About
About math20
In October 2026 OpenAI published openai/math: 719 mathematics manuscripts organised into 372 result families, produced by an unreleased internal model. The repository is complete but dense. math20 is a reading room on top of it: the same catalogue, organised by area, with each result opening onto its papers and onto videos that introduce the problem and explain the presented solution.
The goal is simple: to help mathematicians and enthusiasts understand which problems were attacked and what solutions are proposed, before (or while) reading the papers themselves.
About the videos
The videos are AI-generated: the narration is synthesized, and scripts, animations and computations were produced with AI assistance. They can contain mistakes or oversimplifications. They are a guide into the papers, not a substitute for them: when a video and a paper disagree, trust the paper, and please tell us in the YouTube comments.
What comes from where
- Titles, descriptions, abstracts, citations: reproduced from the repository (
CONTENTS.md, each manuscript'sREADME.md), © OpenAI, Apache-2.0. Commit1581d4cbd. - Disciplines: the 17 sections of the repository's
overview.tex. The five areas are our grouping. - Lean scope notes:
lean/docs/. A result marked “Lean” has a formalization described there; read the scope note to see exactly what was checked. - PDFs: served by GitHub from the original repository, so you always read the current version.
- Videos: produced independently for this site with AI assistance, and hosted on YouTube.
A word of caution
The repository itself states that some unformalized results could have issues, and it records withdrawals and revisions in its history. Nothing here has been peer reviewed. A Lean badge means a formal proof of the stated scope exists, not that every claim in every paper has been checked.
